Separated at Birth?

There are only so many configurations for the human face, what with most of us limited to having just two eyes and one nose, and the general placement of them being fairly restricted unless you're a Picasso.

But every now and then I'm watching TV and still find myself surprised at HOW MUCH someone on there looks like somebody else.

So instead of me making comments about these things to my television set-- which almost NEVER answers back-- I thought I'd post some of my favorite celebrity look-alikes here.

Like how about James Dyson of the Dyson vacuum cleaner commercials...

And Julian Sands, the actor who was in Warlock and Stephen King's Rose Red...?

I always find myself rooting on James Dyson, just because the guy's entire life seems to be about making vacuum cleaner prototypes. He's probably not a lot of fun at parties, but I bet he has a really clean house. And I think having Julian Sands play him in a film version of the Dyson story could be entertaining, because Julian is usually evil. So maybe the vacuum cleaners could turn out to be possessed or something... sort of like Christine, but with more suction and fewer traffic accidents.

Okay, next we have Doctor Who's David Tennant...

And Top Gear presenter Richard Hammond...

Okay, yes, David Tennant is well over six feet tall, and Richard Hammond is about 5 foot seven. But still... (And yep, I do watch a lot of BBC America, why do you ask?)

All righty, how about actor Dax Shepard...

And actor Zach Braff, "Newbie" from Scrubs?...

Not initially knowing Dax Shepard, but watching Scrubs, I admit, I spent a good portion of Zathura trying to figure out why Zach Braff's voice sounded strange.

So what do you think, folks-- am I way off base here? Has there been anyone you think bears a striking resemblance to someone you'd care to share?

Humor-blogs has no look-alikes. But that's probably because of all the plastic surgery.

Yes, I'd say you have some definite look-alikes there!

I saw that you had my blog linked on your sidebar (thanks!) and wanted to let you know that Angie's Humor Blog has moved here.

Hi, Angie- It's a real pleasure to have you stop by. I will certainly adjust your link-- I've very much enjoyed your funny, polished writing.

Wow...Dax and Zach really could've been seperated at birth, huh? Not a great pic of Zach, tho, is it?

I'm trying to imagine the screenplay for the Dyson Story which would play to Julian's strengths!!

Dax is a bit better-looking than Zach, in my opinion, but there's a definite similarity.

I think the Dyson story would have to get sooped-up with a bit of supernatural flair if Julian Sands were in it-- maybe James Dyson could have premonitions of the cyclonic action he would eventually invent... I haven't worked out all the bugs yet. :)

I really like Julian Sands, though. He makes even bit parts fun, so I see a lot of potential here.

Hey who are these people... No No No - that is like the people who end up looking like their dogs....

Well, Benny, I can probably wrangle up a picture of Doctor Who's robot dog... but somehow, I don't think that will be the same. :)

I knew the Dysan guy reminded me of someone!!! How about him inventing the dysan vacc by doing a spell or something. To clean up the potions he keeps spilling on his dungeon floors? LOL

I'll have to believe you on the Dr Who clone, I really didn't think anyone could look like him. ;)

You know..... the Dysan Vac kind of looks like a Darloc.....

Chyna- see, now when the Dyson commercials come on, you're not going to be able to un-see Julian Sands. :) (Meaning, my work here is done. HAHAHA)

And yup, as I'm rather fond of the dear Doctor, it's fun to see someone who bears such a strong resemblance. I don't know if you get BBC America, but "Top Gear" is actually quite an unexpectedly enjoyable program.

What is it? One of those gamers shows or something totally different? have you been watching the Sara Jane chronicles? We saw the first one and said hey that looks good and then SciFi has put it too early in the evening. Like a show I didn't enjoy as a child would be any better as an adult. Stupid Battlestar. Bring on the Dr!

Hey those are pretty striking similarities. The vacuum man and Julian could almost be twins.

I don't know about other celebrities, but I did work with a girl that looked just like Mary Tyler Moore.

Oh and when I had long hair, so many people used to stop me to tell me I looked like Sarah Jessica Parker, though I never saw the similarities. Then I hired a lady to do my wedding makeup and she said the same thing. She should know, she does Sarah's makeup as well! What a coincidence..

Chyna- No, "Top Gear" is a show about cars, actually, but it's done with this hysterical dry Monty Python sense of humor, so the guys (Richard Hammond included) end up trying to take a truck, make it float and race it across the English Channel, and other goofy things. Not a show I would have imagined liking, but a lot of fun.

I haven't gotten to see the Sara Jane Chronicles yet. Maybe I'll Netflix them. I LOVE the Doctor, but don't care for Torchwood.

Michele- Hey, thanks for stopping by. Mary Tyler Moore, eh, that's pretty cool. One of my friends looked quite a bit like Sarah Jessica Parker in college, too(she never thought she did.) I would guess if her makeup artist saw the resemblance in you, though, it has to be true!

Let's be honest, we could take a whole host of American shows and make them better by adding a British accent or two...tho of course, we are generally stealing their better material for dumbing down on this side of the pond.

Unknown said...

Greg- Possibly so-- and in most cases, I really love the original British series'. With the exception of The Office, which I actually prefer the American version... less long takes, and not QUITE so painful as the Ricky Gervais version.

Ok, thanks for reassuring me that I'm not crazy... I swear, David and Richard look alike! Oh, it might help that their both gorgeous too!

Unknown said...

Anonymous- Hey, no problem-- and thanks for confirming what seemed overwhelming to me the first time I watched Top Gear!

And, yes, they are both cuties. :)
